Going Medieval

I spent yesterday at the King Richard’s Faire, a medieval re-enactment festival held in Carver, Ma. It’s been going on for about 40 years and I was never inclined to check it out. But this year I did. And I brought my camera.

The participants’ costumes were amazing and the people were very open to being photographed. It was a much larger event than I had expected and it seemed to be a very well-run operation.

Anyway, here are the photos. Lots of strong sun and pesky shadows. I only brought one battery (rookie mistake) and so I had to cut the shoot short. But, with the exception of a few missed focuses, I’m satisfied with the results.

I used the Leica SL3 and a Sigma 35mm f1.2 mostly; I used an 85mm 1.4 for the horse shots.
