Black & White images have a timeless appeal. It’s what I started with (Tri-X and contact sheets) and it’s still my favorite type of photography.

I love traveling to out-of-the-way places. But I also like to visit and see those well known, iconic sites.
For the latter, it’s a challenge to make an image that hasn’t already been done. But I can still try… and hopefully I’ve brought some originality to the mix.

A photo is nothing but a frozen moment from the past, they say. Those moments can be mundane or compelling, humorous or serious… but the trick is that they should say something about the world.
Street is one of the hardest genres to tackle. Focus, composition and light have to be worked out in a split-second—the decisive moment. That’s what makes it fun.

Street Portraits are a great way to capture interesting people out in the world. It’s one of my favorite things to do and people almost always agree to pose. The bonus is that you get to meet interesting people.
Candid people photography can be harder. The stakes are higher. It requires a sensitivity to exposing people’s vulnerabilities but in the end, the payoff is a greater understand of the human condition.
